Greenland voters deal a crushing defeat to those who would get rid of electronic voting machines
Greenland, NH residents, including State Representative Dennis Malloy (far right) hold signs in the Greenland town hall parking lot days before Greenland voters fight back a petition to eliminate electronic voting machines.
In a 1077 to 120 vote Greenland said NO to the elimination of Voting Machines
On December 18, 2021 Greenland, NH became one of the nation’s first tests fending off those who propose to radically change the way we count votes. A petitioned warrant article containing the signatures of 50 voters in Greenland was defeated by 90 percent of the voters who came out on a snowy Saturday, one week before Christmas.
Greenland/Newington State Representative Dennis Malloy said in a Seacoast On-Line Letter to the Editor that this was an expensive, frivilous and nuisance warrant article and that he will be voting to defeat this, and thereby support Greenland town officials who work hard to insure our election count is accurate.
Support Greenland’s election officials and vote no on December 18.
I’m encouraging Greenland voters to reject a frivolous and expensive petitioned warrant article that calls for getting rid of the AccuVote machine that tabulates our votes. Greenland has been using voting machines since our population passed 2,500 with no contested elections and only one recount where the hand count confirmed the machine results. AccuVote is approved by the independent NH Ballot Law Commission. During the November 13 deliberative session our Town Moderator and Town Clerk described how they meticulously prepare for and follow-up on each and every election. This process includes testing and retesting both the ballots and the vote counting machines for accuracy, while Supervisors of the Checklist vote to confirm the names and addresses of registered voters for every election. Not one of the over 150 people attending the November 13, deliberative session supported the claim that someone other than the voter determines the vote. There is no voter fraud in Greenland because our local election officials are sworn to safeguard our democratic process. I will be showing my support for our dedicated town officials by voting NO on December 18 on this nuisance warrant article.
