Marathon Week in the NH House

In an unprecedented three-day session that lasted to nearly 10 p.m. the majority in the NH House proved how “free-staters” have taken over the agenda of their party and voted against sensible legislation that upholds the rights of individuals, prevents affordable housing development and chills our public education professionals. In spite of this overwhelming rejection of the following bills intended to to promote the health, safety and public education of our citizens we were able to pass legislation to provide dental benefits to Medicaid recipients and take another look at the redistricting maps.

The most infamous bill was to allow a vote on seceding from the United States.

The NH House voted to:

• Prohibit NH law enforcement from enforcing federal law

• Insist on allowing domestic abusers and criminals access to firearms

• Refuse to prohibit use of native American mascots in schools

• Repeal of board of registration of medical technicians

• Reject accountability in runaway voucher program

• Resurrect 2018 debate to repeal prohibition on conversion therapy

• End debate on a bill to discriminate against transgender youth

• Pass bill to dispense Ivermectin without prescription

• Vote to allow intimidation outside healthcare facilities

• Continued restrictions on reproductive rights

• Prevent performing arts venues to set own health safety policies

• Kill a bill to guarantee employees meal and bathroom breaks

• Continue their attempts to hinder passenger rail

• Address New Hampshire’s housing crisis
