Prescription drug affordability and health care access signed into law

Governor Sununu signed HB 1280, a legislative package that includes multiple policies to increase prescription drug affordability for New Hampshire citizens.

HB 1280 will make a significant positive impact in the lives of citizens across the state. This bill reduces insulin costs to $30 per 30-day subscription, requires insurance coverage of epi-pens, mandates the use of a reverse auction process for the state contract with pharmacy benefit managers, establishes a prescription drug affordability board and establishes a wholesale drug importation program from Canada.

House Democrats were able to work with all members of the Senate to put this legislative package together. We understood how critically important it is to address the rising costs of prescription drugs, so we got to work and crafted this solution. This bill is both practical and forward-thinking & will improve the affordability and accessibility of prescription drugs for all Granite Staters.
